Once engaged, how do you go about finding the gown of your dreams? I have seen many girls struggle over the quest for the perfect gown. I often have to ask is there REALLY a perfect gown? A woman has so many moods to appease to and on your wedding day you could be feeling childlike, sexy or chic. So, how can you pick a dress. There is so much to offer when it comes to choosing, but, if you are bridal savvy, it really is very easy. First decide what your vision is. Do you want a dress that you always dreamed of when you were a child that still resembles frills, and ruffles? You are older and more sophisticated so a dress that resembles your personality might be nice. Think about what your personality is and really what you want to look like on your wedding day. Remember to leave out what your family wants you to look like. This is about you, your day. The next step is to realistically make your budget for your dress. But, before you can do that think about what details will be important on your dress. Do you want beading? Beading can be expensive. Do you only like silk fabrics? This will add into your bridal gown budget by at least $1000. But, it is well worth buying a nicer fabric. Silk will not only breathe with your body, but, will be a timeless fabric. Do you like lace? Any quality lace will run up the price of your wedding gown. These things should be considered before even going into a salon. To give you an idea of cost for a silk gown with beading by a designer can run from $2000 on up depending on style, designer, and quality.
Now, It is time for you to go shopping. Go shopping with the people you get along with most or know your style. Mom doesn’t always know best and if you don’t have the same tastes shopping can be disasterous. Don’t bring an entourage either go with one or two guests. Most brides can find the perfect dress the first time they go shopping. You do not have to shop from salon to salon to find the perfect dress. If you go to a salon with a good selection you should be able to find the dress. Search salons and go to one with a good reputation and has sales constultants to help you. A sales consultant should guide you and make suggestions based on your body style, and vision of your dream gown. Be open minded to the sales consultants they see many brides and have a good idea on what to show you. Talk to them about your wedding day, if there is a theme, or specific colors, maybe it is a beach wedding or garden style. This will help find a dress that is appropriate for the setting as well.
Once you find one that makes you feel good, making a decision can be difficult. Don’t let your guest talk you out of buying a dress that you love. It might not be there when you return. Also, if you built up a repore with the sales consultant they will make sure you have a good experience. Remember going from place to place can be tiring, time restricting, and confusing. The more you see the more confusing it can be. Go with your gut feelings and if you have fallen in love with the dress then buy it.
You will feel releived once making the decision because there are so many other details you will have to decide on. Your dress sets the tone of the wedding so everything else can fall into place now. Bridesmaids can be chosen, flowers, etc.
Just remember to have fun. When shopping for your dress gets stressful, stepback and think for a bit. This is a celebration! Enjoy the moment!
